Even though embarking on their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season proved outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
