Pick of the Week
This Satirical Thriller
Coralie Fargeat's unflinching commentary examines the oppressive nature of women's appearance along with the dreaded aspects of ageing. Hollywood star Demi Moore offers a brilliant acting turn in the role of Elisabeth, an aging actress forced into starring in a workout series on the small screen. Pushed out by her deceitful superior Harvey, played by Dennis Quaid, she turns to an enigmatic and gruesome process known as this experimental method. This creates a younger clone portrayed by Margaret Qualley, leading to a progressively vampiric relationship among both women. Friday 17 October, the streaming service Paramount+

Presence Film
Soderbergh tests his creative boundaries in this innovative ghostly tale filmed completely from the viewpoint of the phantom. As a family featuring mother Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe moves into their new suburban house, the filming device – as the unseen entity – follows them around. Chloe seems aware of the ghostly being, and the entity appears guarding her. Yet what is the reason? The premise is enjoyable that doesn't outstay its welcome, including a revelation that may be unexpected. October 11th, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, Sky Cinema Premiere
Nicolas Cage's Meta Comedy
The iconic actor wholeheartedly adopts his unique fame via this self-referential adventure. He acts as an egotistical film star called Nicolas Cage who accepts a million-dollar gig to attend a birthday party at a Mediterranean location for the rich Javi, played by Pedro Pascal. Contacted by government spies to investigate the alleged criminal, the actor's “nouveau shamanic acting ability” is put to the test. This Saturday, 9pm, the Channel 4 network
The Black Phone Horror
The director's contained scarefest holds up well despite the lack of a follow-up. Located in the late 70s in Denver, a series of kidnappings has rendered the local kids on edge. After Finney is kidnapped by the villain and held captive in a dungeon, he anticipates a fatal end. But the non-functional line on the wall repeatedly calls, with ghostly voices providing assistance, and the prophetic visions from his sibling Gwen might rescue him. A genuinely scary movie. Saturday 11 October, late evening, on Film4
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between God and Mammon, the victory is clear for materialism in this director's brilliantly over-the-top true story of the disgraced TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor portrays the venal Jim, who proclaims initially, claiming divine approval for wealth. The couple commence profiting from the nation's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, however the lead actress achieves to depict Tammy Faye with compassion. October 14th, early morning, Film4

Each performer are experts of deadpan cool, so a delicious mind game of truth or lie unfolds. Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela participate the clever spy entertainment.
